Adrien Mullen finally saw the door open for her long-desired career in medicine when she was hired as a medical receptionist at CommuniCare Health Center in Norfolk's Young Terrace public housing neighborhood. The Center opened thanks in part to a grant from Sentara Healthcare.

[FREE Foundation connects equipment with those in need]
Zeb High lost a leg to diabetes last year, but he has not lost his desire to get around his Portsmouth neighborhood. He can do it now thanks to a gift of a new electric scooter from the FREE Foundation of Hampton Roads. The FREE Foundation and Sentara Healthcare cut the ribbon on their new processing and distribution facility off South Plaza Trail, in space donated by Sentara.

[Old friends and new hope]
Betty Slagle turned to the Western Tidewater Free Clinic when she lost her health insurance. There she met up with a friend and health resources that sustain her in a time of need. Sentara Healthcare has provided a grant to the clinic for several years, supporting their mission of health in the Suffolk community.
