Sentara Healthcare was founded in Norfolk in 1888 as the 25-bed Retreat for the Sick, beginning our rich history in the Hampton Roads region. Today, Sentara is the largest integrated health care provider in the region, serving more than two million residents.
Sentara operates seven hospitals in Hampton Roads, as well as advanced imaging centers, nursing and assisted-living, outpatient campuses, a home-health and hospice agency, and a medical group. Sentara also offers medical transport ambulances and Nightingale, the region's first air ambulance.
