Sentara Healthcare strives not only to provide patients with the highest quality of care but also a positive environment while being treated at Sentara hospitals.
In an effort to be open and honest with our patients and their families, Sentara chose to be among the first in the country to participate in a nationwide patient satisfaction survey. Sentara also chose to voluntarily report its results publicly when we could have waited another year.
These insights from patients provide helpful information for our health care team on what matters most to the people they treat everyday. Through initiatives such as this survey, Sentara remains committed to improving the health care experience for every patient.
Patient satisfaction, however, is not the ultimate factor in making health care decisions. Quality of care ratings and reports are essential in evaluating health care. Read more for information on
Sentara's quality outcomes.

Patients and their families should look at a number of factors when making health care choices, not just patient satisfaction.

Scores represent the percent of people who answered each question with the highest rating possible.

Results reflect patient impressions from October 1, 2006, through June 30, 2007, and will be regularly updated.

Sentara is among the first group of hospitals included during the voluntary reporting period (March 2008 - March 2009) on the Hospital Compare Web site.

State and national averages only reflect hospitals that have elected to share their data during the first phase.

Higher scores are better.
