"I cannot overstate the short-term and long-term benefits of the Administrative Fellowship program at Sentara. I entered the fellowship with two goals in mind -- 1) to receive exposure to and mentoring from senior leadership who can help guide and develop me, and 2) to gain broad exposure to health care operations across a large health system. Both goals were exceeded here at Sentara. During the fellowship I received regular access and mentoring from the system's top leadership, and the program was customizable to allow me to pursue projects of interest in each of rotations I selected. My fellowship projects ranged from conducting a comparative analysis of a potential IT solution; to managing the development of a physician quality education project; to helping develop Sentara's urology service line program. By the conclusion of the fellowship, I had learned and contributed in many areas while having built durable relationships with senior leaders that continue to guide and mentor me today.
