Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, the region's 1st Magnet Hospital is recruiting for a Nurse Clinician for our Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit and Burn Trauma Unit.
Job Summary/Purpose: Provides clinical leadership to care team members, allowing staff to plan, direct, manage outcomes and evaluate care. Participates in the clinical leadership of the Burn Trauma and Neuroscience Intensive Care Units, and is the hospital lead for the Stroke Program. Manages and coordinates the care of unit-based assigned patient populations utilizing clinical practice guidelines/standards of care, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Directs and guides staff, patient, and family education with regards to activities of care. As Hospital lead for the Stroke program, Nurse Clinician will be responsibile for developing, implementing and the on-going evaluation of a comprehensive stroke program for Norfolk General Hospital.
Sentara Norfolk General is currently designated as a certified stroke program through The Joint Commission.
Education: BSN in Nursing required and actively working towards a Master's Degree in Nursing (must be completed within 3 years of date of hire)
Experience: Minimum of two years current clinical experience in neurology/neurosurgery and critical care required; ACLS required. Must successfully complete National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) by an approved certification program or a DSHS (Department of State Health Services) approved equivalent
Licensure: Currently licensed to practice as an RN in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
