During your first day of work with Sentara, you will be scheduled for New Hire Orientation.
General InformationAs a new hire you will be scheduled for an orientation by your Recruitment Representative. Please note this date, and the time you are required to arrive.
Plan to arrive no more than 15 minutes prior to the start of your assigned orientation session.
Failure to arrive on time for orientation may result in a delay in your employment.Please Note:

Appropriate business attire is required at all times during your employment with Sentara. This includes dress attire for orientation. Please dress conservatively, and professionally, during your scheduled orientation. Jeans, shorts, athletic apparel and/or other casual types of dress are not appropriate for the orientation session. Sentara Healthcare reserves the right to reschedule an individuals Orientation session to ensure appropriate attire is worn. Feel free to bring with you a light coat or jacket as the temperature in the rooms may vary.

Clinical attire (uniforms or scrubs) are acceptable for staff being hired into clinical positions.

The following items must be completed at New Hire OrientationEligibility for Employment
The U.S. Department of Justice, Immigration and Naturalization Service requires all employees to provide documentation of identity and employment eligibility.

Please bring two (2) acceptable forms of identification with you, as referred to on the backside of the Employment Eligibility Verification (I-9) form.

You must provide the proper identification within three (3) days of hire in order to continue your employment with Sentara.

Please be aware that your name as it appears on your Social Security card will be used for all employment records.
License Verification
If you have been hired into a position that requires a license or certification, please bring the original license or certificate with you to Day 1 of orientation. Your Sentara Recruitment Representative will outline any required items with you during the on-boarding process, and again prior to your orientation session.
Failure to bring required documents may result in a delay of your employment. If there are any questions regarding required licensure, registration or certification, please contact your Sentara Recruitment Representative.
RNs & LPNs: You must present either a valid Virginia nursing license; an appropriate Compact State nursing license; or a valid out-of-state license along with documentation from the Virginia Board of Nursing verifying that you have applied for a Virginia license (this interim documentation is valid for 30 days).
