Sentara is committed to evolving and growing to meet the needs of its community. The new three-story, 63,480 square-foot wing at Sentara Obici Hospital is another example of that dedication.
The $22.4 million addition opened in June 2010. The wing includes all private beds serving orthopedic, medical and surgical patients and increases the hospital's bed capacity to 168 beds.
The goal is to improve care and access for Sentara Obici Hospital patients and the surrounding community, which is expected to grow 10 percent between 2009 and 2014. The population over the age of 55 years also is expected to grow about 20 percent in the area, increasing the need for medical care.
With the expansion of Sentara Obici Hospital, Sentara is living its commitment to evolve, grow with and always serve the Western Tidewater area to the best of its ability.
