The Nursing Staff
A team of professional registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and nurse assistants provides 24- hour nursing care. A team coordinator is responsible for directing and coordinating nursing care on each unit. Please feel free to contact your nurse or team coordinator if you have questions or concerns.
Dietitians
Sentara Obici Hospital has a staff of full-time registered dietitians, and an award-winning chef, to meet your dietary needs during your stay. If you have questions about your meals or diet, call ext. 4559.
Environmental Services
A member of the Environmental Services staff will clean your room daily. If there is a problem in your room, tell your nurse, and it will be taken care of as soon as possible.
The Medical Staff
The physician who admits you is responsible for directing your care while you are in the hospital.
Your physician, as the coordinator for your treatment program, should be consulted if you have questions about your illness.
Other Staff
During your stay many other healthcare professionals, including personnel from the laboratory and radiology departments and physical or occupational therapists, may visit you. In addition, the Sentara Obici Hospital family includes many behind-the-scenes workers, such as accountants, engineers, secretaries, food service workers and others who contribute greatly toward your well being while
you are here.
Pastoral Services
We believe that total patient care demands attention to the spiritual, as well as the physical and emotional needs of each patient. Pastoral services staff are available to assist you, whatever your religious tradition. Your priest, minister or rabbi is always welcome to visit you while you are here.
Patient Accounting
A representative from the Patient Accounting Department can answer questions about your hospital bill and help you interpret financial policies and billing procedures at the hospital. To contact your Patient Accounting Representative:

Social Workers
Social workers are assigned to each patient care area and are trained to help patients and family members deal with financial, social and emotional problems that relate to illness or hospitalization. Members of the department work with patients and families to help deal with long-term illnesses and rehabilitation and are involved in discharge planning. When it is time to leave the hospital, the social work staff can assist patients and families in discharge planning. The department can be reached at ext. 4627.
Volunteers
Volunteers contribute many hours of service, delivering mail, reading materials flowers and other activities. They also supplement the services of the hospital staff in many ways and can be identified by their uniforms and nametags.
