The Vein Center of Virginia treats patients suffering with unsightly or painful varicose or spider veins using safe, effective, state-of-the-art techniques that achieve dramatic results.

This includes a nonsurgical laser therapy — an in-office minimally invasive procedure, which allows an almost immediate return to routine activities.

All procedures are performed by experienced Sentara Vascular Specialists with well-earned reputations for excellence. 

Depending on the type and stage of vein disease, there are many different treatment options available ranging from the latest advances in surgical technology to highly customized cosmetic treatment plans that can quickly be performed in the office.

Endovenous Laser Therapy

Endovenous laser therapy: An accepted alternative to surgical stripping to treat varicose veins, is performed in our office in less than one hour and routine activity can be resumed immediately.

Cosmetic Treatment

Sclerotherapy: Used commonly for spider veins and small varicose veins. It involves injecting a small volume of a liquid into the diseased vein, which acts upon the lining of the vein to cause it to seal shut, eliminating the vein completely.

Minimally Invasive Surgical Treatments
All these procedures are performed by board-certified Sentara vascular surgeons on an outpatient basis and require only a few days of downtime with minimal discomfort.

Stripping procedures

 Avulsion phlebectomy: This is performed for the removal of localized regions of varicosities and is performed through many tiny, 1 millimeter incisions employing specialized instruments to allow the varicosities to be "teased" from beneath the skin.
 
Transilluminated powered phlebectomy: This is a technique whereby large regions of varicose veins can be removed with small incisions using techniques similar to liposuction.
