The Sentara School of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) is devoted to improving the spiritual care of patients, families and staff involved in healthcare crises (illness, injury, trauma, loss as well as those facing surgery and various serious medical procedures) through the clinical education of clergy, laity, and others interested in the religious, ethical, and spiritual aspects of healthcare.
Mission Statement
In support of the mission of Chaplaincy Services, the Sentara School of Clinical Pastoral Education provides opportunities to develop and integrate the art and skills of sipiritual care.
Statement of Accreditation
Sentara Hospitals [Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, and Sentara Leigh Hospital] is accredited to offer CPE Levels I & II by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education Inc. Commendations Received
The School of Clinical Pastoral Education received two commendations ("best practice awards"). The Accreditation Commission of the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education commended our School for the quality of our CPE Curriculum and for the quality of our Student Handbook.
