Kinesiotaping is a specialized taping technique used in hospitals, clinics, universities, high schools, and by professional sports teams for the treatment of muscle injuries and for decreasing swelling.
The technique involves taping over and around the affected muscles with elastic tape in order to assist and give support to the muscles or prevent over-contraction of the muscles.
Physical therapists,
occupational therapists, or
athletic trainers must attend seminars and pass the certification exam in order to practice kinesiotaping.
