The Day Rehabilitation Program, located at 890 Kempsville Road, Norfolk, is an intensive multidisciplinary approach to rehabilitation. This program includes a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician, a certified registered rehabilitation nurse, an occupational therapist, a physical therapist, a speech pathologist, a case manager and a rehab aide.
The medical director of the Day Rehabilitation Program is a physiatrist, a physician specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation. The program is a National Certified Stroke Hospital as well as DNV certified. DNV's stroke certification programs incorporate elements from our NIAHO® hospital accreditation standards, as well as requirements from the Guidelines of the Brain Attack Coalition, and Recommendations of the American Stroke Association.
All of the disciplines work together to assist patients who have suffered a potentially life-changing neurological or physically debilitating event in achieving their personal rehabilitation goals. Patients spend the day attending therapy sessions and other activities, which contribute to an overall sense of well-being and quality of life.
