The following web browsers and operating systems are compatible with Sentara MyChart.  While they are compatible with MyChart, our technical team only provides detailed support for the Sentara MyChart application. Due to the number of questions and variety of systems, we have compiled a list of common items for your assistance.

Please Note:  We recommend that you do not save your login ID or password to your computer as this puts you at a security risk if someone else should access your computer. 

  

Google Chrome

Browser Cookies Are Disabled

Chrome (PC)

1.  Select the Customize and Control Icon to the right of the address bar

2.  Select Settings

3.  Select Setting Controls on the left of the screen and a new tab will open

4.  At the bottom of the page click the link to Show Advanced Settings

5.  Under the heading Privacy Click on Content Settings

6.  Select Allow local data to be set and ensure that sites are not blocked or that MyChart appears under manage exceptions as an approved site.

To enable cookies in Chrome (Mac):

1.  Select the Chrome menu at the top of the browser.

2. Select preferences, then click Show Advanced Settings

3. Click Content settings in the Privacy section.

4.  Make sure Allow local data to be set is selected to allow both first-party and third-party cookies. For any given webpage, first-party cookies are cookies that are set by the site domain listed in the address bar. Third-party cookies come from other domain sources that have items, such as ads or images, embedded on the page. If you only want to accept first-party cookies, check the box next to Block all third-party cookies without exception.

Clearing Cache Memory

Chrome

1.  Select the Customize and Control Icon to the right of the address bar

2.  Select Settings

3.  Select setting Controls on the left of the screen and a new tab will open

4.  At the bottom of the page click the link to Show Advanced settings

5.  Under the heading Privacy Click on Clear Browsing Data

6.  Uncheck all items and ONLY CHECK EMPTY THE CACHE.

7.  Click clear browsing data

Clearing saved Log Ins and Passwords

Chrome

1.  Select the Customize and Control Icon to the right of the address bar

2.  Select Settings

3.  Select Show Advanced Settings

4.  Click manage saved passwords in the Passwords and forms section to see a list and delete the ones you do not want

Firefox

To enable cookies in Mozilla Firefox

1.  Click the Firebox button on the top left of your browser window

2.  Select Options

3.  Choose the Privacy Panel

4.  Set Firefox will: to Use custom settings for history.

4.  Check the box next to Accept cookies from sites to enable cookies

5.  Click OK.

Clear Cache Memory

1.   Click the Firebox button on the top left of your browser window

2.   Select Options

3.   Select Advanced

4.   Click on the Network Tab

4.   Click on  the Cached Web Content section, Click Clear Now

5.   Click OK.

Deleting Saved Login ID and Passwords

1.   Click the Firebox button on the top left of your browser window

2.   Select Options

3.   Select Security

4.   Click on Saved Passwords button

4.   Select the one you want to delete and click the delete button

5.   Click OK.

 

Internet Explorer 9.0 -11.0 

To enable cookies in Internet Explorer 9.0 - Internet Explorer 11.0

1.     Click on the gear-wheel icon at the top right of the browser window

2.     Click Internet Options

3.     Change to the Privacy tab.

4.     Click the Advanced button located under the first section labeled settings

5.     Select the option Override automatic cookie handling under the Cookies section in the Advanced Privacy Settings window.

6.     Select the Accept or Prompt option under First-party Cookies

7.     Select the Accept or Prompt option under Third-party Cookies.(Note: if you select the Prompt option, you'll be prompted to click OK every time a website attempts to send you a cookie.)

8.     In the Internet Options window, click OK to exit.

Clearing Cache Memory

IE 9.0 - 11.0

1.     Click on the gear-wheel icon at the top right of the browser window

2.     Select Safety

3.     Select Delete Browsing History

4.    In the Delete Browsing History window uncheck all options except Temporary Internet Files and Website files

5.     Click Delete

6.     Once this is complete your pointer will return to normal and you may get a window that states it is finished.

You may then exit this activity.

Deleting Saved Login ID and Passwords

IE 9.0 - 11.0

1. Go the Log in box on the web page you want to delete and ID/password from

2. Double click the empty login ID box and your saved list will appear

3. Point your mouse to highlight the one you would like to delete

4. Click the delete key on your keyboard to remove the login ID and associated password

 

Opera

To enable cookies in Opera

1.     Select the Opera button at the top left of your screen

2. Select Settings

3.    Click Privacy & Security

4.     Under Cookies click allow location data to be set

5.     Click OK.

To clear Cache in Opera:

1.     Select the Opera button at the top left of your screen

2. Select Settings

3.    Click Privacy & Security

4.     Under privacy click the clear browsing data button

5.     Ensure that that only item that is checked is Empty the Cache and click clear browsing data

To delete saved Log in ID's and Passwords

1.     Select the Opera button at the top left of your screen

2. Select Settings

3.    Click Privacy & Security

4.     Under privacy click managed saved passwords

5.     Highlight and delete the one you would like to remove

 

 Safari

To enable cookies in Safari:

1.   Click on the gear-wheel icon at the top right of the browser window

2.   Select Preferences.

3.   Click Privacy from the top radio button menu

4.   Under Block Cookies select the option From third parties and advertisers. You can also insure under details that we are on your approved site list

5.    Please Note: If you've already checked that your cookies are enabled and you're still seeing an error message that your browser's cookie functionality is turned off, try opening a new window in your browser. Sometimes using tabs in a single browser instance can cause your cookies to stick.

To clear cache memory:

1.   Click on the gear-wheel icon at the top right of the browser window

2.  Select Reset Safari

3.   Uncheck remove saved names and passwords, and remove other auto fill form text

4.  Click Reset

To clear saved Login ID's and passwords

1.   Click on the gear-wheel icon at the top right of the browser window

2.  Select Preferences.

3.   Click Auto- Fill

4.   Click edit next to the Saved User Names and Passwords

5.    Locate the one you would like to delete and remove it from the list

 

  

iPhone, iPad, iPod 

To enable cookies on your Apple Mobile Device :

1.  Open the Settings App

2.  Select Safari ( or Browser you use)

3.  Go to the part that says accept cookies .  The default is never.

4.   Pick what you want, always, from visited or never unless we are on your approved site list

5.  Your new settings have been applied. Enjoy the stay logged in feature and other features that require cookies.

Clear Cache Memory on iPhone, iPad, and iPod

To clear cache memory on your Apple Mobile Device :

1.  Open the Settings App

2.  Select Safari ( or Browser you use)

3.  Tap Clear Cache

Clear Saved login ID and Passwords on iPhone , iPad, and iPod

To clear saved login ID and passwords

1.  Open the Settings App

2.  Select Safari ( or Browser you use)

3.  Select Passwords and Auto Fill

4.  Select Saved Passwords and Delete the ones you would like to remove

 

Android Phones and Tablets

Enable Cookies on Android Mobile Devices ( Native Browser)

To enable cookies on your Android Mobile Device :

1.  Open Settings

2.  Select Privacy and Security

3.  Place a check mark in the box next to accept cookies

Enable Cookies on Android Mobile Devices ( Chrome or other browsers)

1.  Open Settings

2.  Select Browser

3.  Select Content Settings

4.  Check accept cookies

Clear Cache Memory on Android Mobile Devices ( Native Browser)

To clear cache memory on your Android Mobile Device :

1.  Open the browser Settings

2.  Select Privacy

3.  Select delete personal data

4.  Select Cache and Click Done

Enable Cookies on Android Mobile Devices ( Chrome or other browsers)

1.  Open phone Settings

2.  Select More and then Application Manager

3.  Select Google

4.  Click Clear Cache

Clear Saved Login ID and Passwords on Android Mobile Devices ( Native Browser)

To clear cache memory on your Android Mobile Device :

1.  Open the browser Settings

2.  Select Privacy

3.  Select delete personal data

4.  Select Passwords and Click Done

Enable Cookies on Android Mobile Devices ( Chrome or other browsers)

1.  Open the browser

2.  Select Settings

3.  Select Save Passwords and delete the ones that you would like to delete.
