Hampton, VA - September 9, 2002 - Busch Gardens Williamsburg brings its unique talent for establishing the perfect setting to Sentara's new hospital, currently under construction in Hampton. In an unprecedented undertaking for a U.S. theme park, Busch Gardens has teamed with a health care organization to create a hospital-based garden courtyard where family, loved ones and friends can gather and relax in a serene atmosphere.
Busch Gardens' world-renowned award-winning landscape artists have created a magical waterfall, lush landscaping and a peaceful environment for patients and visitors to the new Sentara CarePlex Hospital opening later this year. Although the courtyard is located in the center of the hospital, it's open to the sky and is designed for an outdoor feel. The National Amusement Park Historical Association recently voted Busch Gardens Williamsburg the world's "Most Beautiful Theme Park" for the tenth year consecutive year.
The 194-bed Sentara CarePlex Hospital is being built in Hampton on Coliseum Drive with a patient-focused design that will offer a new health care experience for patients on the Peninsula. Scheduled to open in late December of 2002, the hospital will be technologically advanced and offer the largest Emergency Department in the region.
