Norfolk, VA - February 12, 2003 - Michael V. Taylor joins Sentara Healthcare as vice president of human resources. Effective January 2003, Taylor assumes full responsibility for all human resource functions affecting Sentara's 14,000 employees.
A native of Charlotte, N.C., Taylor has more than 20 years of experience specific to the health care industry. Most recently he served as vice president of human resources with Moses Cone Health System, a large integrated health system in Greensboro, North Carolina. He held the position for nearly six years.
Located at Sentara's corporate office on Poplar Hall Drive in Norfolk, Taylor will report directly to Rodney F. Hochman, M.D., Sentara senior vice president and chief medical officer who has oversight responsibilities for human resources. In his new role, Taylor will provide leadership to his human resources team and will lead the organization's recruitment and retention efforts.

Taylor was instrumental in the successful merger between Moses Cone and Wesley Long Community Hospital in 1997. Prior to that merger, he served as director of human resources at Wesley Long Community Hospital for 11 years.
Taylor earned his master's degree in business education from the University of North Carolina and bachelor's degree in business administration from Wingate College in North Carolina.
