Virginia Beach, VA - January 4, 2006 - Matthew Keats, M.D., MMM, senior medical director of Sentara Behavioral Health Services, has been appointed to the Review Oversight Committee of the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA.) This group of 12 physicians has final authority for all of NCQAs accreditation decisions involving medical programs and health plans.
NCQA is an independent, not-for-profit organization whose mission is to improve health care quality through measurement, transparency and accountability. Health care organizations voluntarily submit to NCQA review.
"It's a genuine privilege to be able to serve on the Review Oversight Committee and to help Optima Health stay on the cutting edge of developments in health care quality," says Dr. Keats, a psychiatrist in charge of Optima Healths behavioral medicine programs.
