Norfolk, VA - March 31, 2006 - The president of Sentara Life Care, Mary Blunt, has been named chair-elect of the American Hospital Associations Council on Long Term Care and Rehabilitation. Blunt joined the Council as Region 3 representative in December 2003, covering constituents in Virginia, North Carolina, West Virginia, Maryland, Kentucky, Delaware and the District of Columbia.
The Council addresses policy issues involving Skilled Nursing Care, Rehabilitation, Home Health Care and Long Term Acute Care Hospitals (L-TACHs.)
Blunt's Life Care division at Sentara Healthcare includes seven nursing centers, three assisted living centers and the PACE adult day care program. She also serves on the board of the Hospital for Extended Recovery at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Blunt has a master's degree in health administration from Washington University in St. Louis and a bachelor of science in physical therapy from the University of Illinois.
