Virginia Beach, Virginia - May 4, 2006 - In honor of cancer survivors, Sentara is partnering with A Dolphins Promise a local non-profit organization committed to raising $1 million for the Lance Armstrong Foundation and bringing life-size dolphin sculptures to Virginia Beach.

Sentara is the proud sponsor of three dolphin sculptures. One dedicated to cancer survivors will be located at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. The unique design of this sculpture combines daffodils as a symbol of hope and life renewed with signatures of cancer survivors.

"I like letting people know Im a cancer survivor to give those newly diagnosed hope," says two-time cancer survivor Melody Roxas. "Millions of people survive cancer, but thats not your first thought when you hear the diagnosis, " continues the 65-year-old Virginia Beach resident who was first diagnosed with cancer in 1995.

The two additional dolphins Sentara sponsored will be located at Sentara Bayside Hospital and Sentara Princess Anne, the new 72-acre comprehensive health campus under construction in southern Virginia Beach.

Sentara Healthcare is a premier not-for-profit health care provider in southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina.
