March 28, 2007 – Stephen E. Lapinel, M.D., is the newest member of Sentara Medical Group’s Division of Hospital Medicine at
Sentara CarePlex Hospital at 3000 Coliseum Dr., Hampton, Va.
Dr. Lapinel earned his medical degree from State University of New York-Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1982. He completed his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry at New York University in New York, N.Y., in 1978 after receiving his bachelor’s degree in biology at New York University in 1975.
He performed his internship at King County Medical Center-Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1983 and his residency at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Va., in 1985. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Lapinel’s experience in the medical field includes academic and management positions. He was an assistant professor at Eastern Virginia Medical School from 1998-2002. He is a member of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Physician Executives.
