October 6, 2009 – Dr. Amelito Benedicto Malapira has joined
Sentara Neurology Specialists, a specialty practice of
Sentara Medical Group. Sentara Neurology Specialists is a group of leading neurologists who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the nervous system—the brain, the spinal cord, and the nerves. Dr. Malapira joins fellow neurology experts at Sentara Neurology Associates in their office location at 1950 Glenn Mitchell Drive, Suite 200 in Virginia Beach.
Dr. Malapira earned his medical degree from the University in the East in the Philippines in 1990. He subsequently completed his internship in internal medicine and neurology residency at the University of Tennessee in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Malapira furthered his expertise in a neurological rehabilitation fellowship at Wake Forest University at Baptist Medical Center in Wake Forest, North Carolina, and a cerebrovascular disease and headache fellowship at the University of South Alabama. Prior to joining Sentara Medical Group, Dr. Malapria was in private practice in Washington State.
In addition to diagnosis and treatment of general neurological conditions, Dr. Malapira is fellowship-trained in stroke care and has a special interest in headaches. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a member of the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine, American Academy of Neurology, and American Headache Society.
