Chesapeake, VA – March 9, 2009 - Deepak N. Deshmukh, D.O., is the newest member of Sentara Vascular & Transplant Specialists-Chesapeake, located at 300 Medical Parkway, Ste. 110, Chesapeake.
Dr. Deshmukh earned both a bachelor’s degree in biology in 1994 and a master’s degree in medical science in 1997 from Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Mass. He obtained his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, Pa., in 2001.
Dr. Deshmukh completed a surgical internship in 2002 at Robert Packer Hospital and Guthrie Clinic in Sayre, Pa., and a surgical residency at the same hospital in 2006. He completed a fellowship in vascular surgery at the University of Rochester/Strong Memorial Hospital in 2008.
Dr. Deshmukh was a clinical instructor in surgery from 2001-06 at SUNY Upstate Health Science Center, where he was named the resident teacher of the year by medical students in 2003-04. He received postgraduate training in airway management and advanced trauma operative management. He was the 2003-04 Resident Teacher of the Year at SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syrucuse, N.Y.
A native of Norfolk, Dr. Deshmukh is commissioned as a major in the U.S. Army Reserves.
