March 9, 2009 - Nayeem Karim, D.O., is the newest member of
Sentara Neurology Specialists, located at 816 Independence Blvd., Ste. 2H, Virginia Beach, Va.

Dr. Karim earned his bachelors degree in biology in 1996 from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md., and his doctorate of osteopathy from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine.
He completed an internship in osteopathy from Mercy & Moses Taylor Hospitals in Scranton, Pa., in 2003; and a residency in adult neurology at VCU Medical Center in Richmond in 2006. Dr. Karin completed a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., in 2008.
Dr. Karim’s work experience prior to coming to Sentara includes serving in a general neurology practice at Neuro-Care of Virginia at John Randolph Medical Center in Hopewell, Va. He participated in research studies at Johns Hopkins Medical Center from 1993-97 and served as a teaching assistant in osteopathic manipulative medicine from 1999-2000.
Dr. Karim was the recipient of TopScholar Epilepsy Fellows and National Epifellows Foundation travel grants in 2007 and the UNECOM Leadership and Service Award in 2000. He is a member of the New Jersey Osteopathic Physician Association, the American Academy of Neurology, Medical Society of Virginia and American Clinical Neurophysiology Society.
