Updated Saturday, August 27 6:15 p.m.

For their own safety, visitors to Sentara hospitals are encouraged to go home early tonight before the worst of the weather and high tide. Visitors are advised to stay in touch with their loved ones electronically until Sunday, after the storm passes.

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and Sentara Leigh Hospital are specifically restricting visitors tonight to concentrate on patient care and accommodating staff members 'camping' at the hospitals to assure that they are available for their shifts this evening and tomorrow morning.

All Sentara hospitals encourage virtual visitation tonight to avoid unnecessary travel.  Normal visiting hours will resume on Sunday.

We wish everyone a safe weekend.
