March Workshop Dedicated to Teaching Cancer Survivors the Healing Benefits of Journal Writing
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (February 17, 2012)
– Writing from the heart and spending time to focus and reflect in a journal during difficult times offers another powerful tool for cancer patients and survivors to battle the disease.
"Journal to Health: A Cancer Survivor Workshop" will provide insights into the healing benefits of journal writing. Group facilitators demonstrate how to journal using writing prompts and journal topics designed to honor the health and wellness in your life.
Group facilitators Theresa Ceniccola and Debi Wacker of "Write to Health" have used writing in their own lives to make incredible breakthroughs and heal from personal transitions and traumatic events — including eating disorders and alcohol addiction.
In their professional roles as writers and journal coaches, they’ve worked with people facing personal transitions to help them develop a healthy journal writing practice. In the process, Theresa and Debi have witnessed the transformation that takes place in the writers' lives and in their hearts as their words begin to heal.
Whether you are an avid journaler or a novice, the facilitators will show you the health benefits of journal writing as a tool to:
Reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety
Process negative emotions and release energy
Explore your spiritual relationships
Navigate life transitions
Slow down, reflect and focus
Contribute to a healthier life.
Writing therapy is an easy, inexpensive, convenient, and non-judgmental way to be fully present and live your life with awareness. It is one of the most simple forms of self-care.
