Hampton, VA – September 20, 2012 − Sentara CarePlex Hospital is honored as a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures™ in the 2012 annual report on quality released by the Joint Commission, a third-party hospital accrediting body in the U.S. This marks the second consecutive year Sentara CarePlex has been distinguished.
Sentara CarePlex Hospital, located in Hampton is one of 11 hospitals in Virginia and among 620 hospitals in the U.S. to be honored in this annual hospital quality rating.
The hospitals named in the most recent Joint Commission Annual Report have been recognized for using evidence based care processes and are among the top 18 percent of Joint Commission hospitals that report core performance data. These hospitals are linking their processes closely with positive patient outcomes.
Each top performing hospital achieved performance of 95 percent or above on a single, composite score that includes all the accountability measures for which it reports data to the Joint Commission. Each hospital also met or exceeded a 95 percent performance target for every accountability measure for which it reports data.
