Hampton, Va. (August 2012) – Yassine Benis, MD, has joined Sentara Hospital Medicine Physicians in Hampton, Va.
Dr. Benis earned his medical degree in 1999 from the Faculté de Médecine et de Pharmacie de Casablanca at the Université Hassan II in Morocco. He completed his residency at the University of Massachusetts, Berkshire Medical Center in 2007.
As a hospitalist, Dr. Benis focuses on the care of patients in the hospital. Trained in internal medicine and experienced in delivering care in hospital settings, he works with all other specialists involved with the patient to ensure continuity of quality care. He may also collaborate with primary care physicians to ensure quality care upon the patient's discharge from the hospital and beyond.
Before moving to the Hampton Roads area, Dr. Benis was Chief of Medicine and staff physician at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, W.V., where he was also the medical director of their diabetes education program and a medical executive committee member.
Dr. Benis is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a member of the American College of Physicians and the Society of Hospital Medicine. In his leisure time, he enjoys spending time with his family, jogging, tennis, soccer, jazz and books.
