Norfolk, VA (February 2013) – Andra Mirescu, MD, has joined Sentara Hospital Medicine Physicians in Norfolk, VA.
Dr. Mirescu earned her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Targu-Mures, Romania in 1999. She completed her internal medicine and general surgery internship at County Hospital in Fagaras and her family medicine residency at the University of Medicine in Cluj-Napoca. Dr. Mirescu then went on to complete her internal medicine residency at Huron Hospital-Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH, in 2009.
As a hospitalist, Dr. Mirescu focuses on the care of patients in the hospital. Trained in internal medicine and family medicine, and experienced in delivering care in hospital and emergency settings, she works with all other specialists involved with the patient to ensure continuity of quality care. She may also collaborate with primary care physicians to ensure quality care upon the patient's discharge from the hospital and beyond.
Before moving to Hampton Roads, Dr. Mirescu was a hospitalist at Springfield Clinic in Springfield, IL. Fluent in Romanian and English and proficient in German, her multiple language skills are often a benefit when communicating with patients and helping them understand their conditions and the care they are receiving.
Dr. Mirescu is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a member of the Society of Hospital Medicine and the American Medical Association.
