Norfolk, VA (January 2013) – Barbara Morrison, PA, has joined Sentara Internal Medicine Physicians in Norfolk, VA.
Ms. Morrison earned her Bachelor of Science degree and Physician Assistant Studies certificate at Long Island University in Brooklyn, NY, in 1991 where she earned the New York State Health Services Scholarship.
As a physician assistant, Ms. Morrison has over 20 years of experience in both hospital and private practice settings. She has experience in the areas of internal medicine, women’s health and rheumatology. In the past, Ms. Morrison served at a substance abuse clinic, providing primary care for the HIV-infected population. She also worked in a trauma center treating wounds, fractures and chronic medical issues. Ms. Morrison is highly trained to conduct physical exams, order and interpret laboratory tests and X-rays, diagnose and treat numerous medical conditions and prescribe medications. Further, she eagerly promotes preventive medicine as an important part of a daily health maintenance plan for all patients.
Ms. Morrison is board-certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and Physician Assistants for Global Health. She is fluent in French, and enjoys gardening, reading, yoga and volunteering in community programs. Ms. Morrison lives in the local area with her husband and two children.
