Norfolk, VA (June 2013) – Catherine W. Bergeron, MD, has joined Sentara Hospital Medicine Physicians in Norfolk.
Dr. Bergeron earned her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in the Commonwealth of Dominica, West Indies, in 2009. She completed graduate studies in biochemistry and neurophysiology at the University of Maryland Graduate School in College Park, MD, in 2004. Dr. Bergeron received her bachelor’s degree in science with a major in physiology and neurobiology at the University of Maryland in College Park, MD, in 2003. While attending, she served as an EMT for the College Park Volunteer Fire Department. Dr. Bergeron completed her internal medicine residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA, in 2013.
As a hospitalist, Dr. Bergeron focuses on the care of patients in the hospital. Trained in internal medicine and experienced in delivering care in hospital settings, she works with all other specialists involved with the patient to ensure continuity of quality care. She also collaborates with primary care physicians to ensure quality care upon the patient's discharge from the hospital and beyond.
Dr. Bergeron is a member of the American College of Physicians. She has earned numerous leadership and academic awards, and is a co-founder of health care service organizations both in the United States and in the West Indies. In her spare time, she enjoys music, especially singing and piano, and running.
