Virginia Beach, VA (February 2013) – Jan A. James, PA-C, has joined Sentara Family Medicine Physicians in Virginia Beach, VA.
Ms. James earned her Master of Physician Assistant degree at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA, in 2010. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree, magna cum laude, majoring in interdisciplinary studies with concentrations in pre-nursing and industrial management technology at Norfolk State University in Norfolk, VA, in 2003.
As a physician assistant, Ms. James works in collaboration with the physicians at Sentara Family Medicine Physicians to provide a wide range of medical services for patients with acute or chronic conditions. She has volunteered with the Virginia Beach EMS since 1993 and has additional experience in occupational, family and emergency medicine. Ms. James is trained to perform examinations, order and interpret laboratory tests and X-rays, diagnose and treat medical conditions, assist in surgical procedures, treat minor injuries, and instruct and counsel patients. Further, Ms. James is a highly motivated individual whose priority is to ensure the best possible treatment and follow-up care for her patients.
Ms. James is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Virginia Academy of Physician Assistants, and is a lifetime member of Virginia Beach Emergency Medical Services, which awarded her with several Certificates of Commendation.
