Hampton, VA (June 2013) – Kofi Amo-Mensah, MD, has joined Sentara Hospital Medicine Physicians in Hampton, VA.
Dr. Amo-Mensah earned his medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, DC, in 2008 after receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry and English at the University at Buffalo (SUNY) in New York in 2003. While attending SUNY, he received the Outstanding Achievement in Chemistry award, and in 2000 he was listed in Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. Dr. Amo-Mensah also attended Brooklyn College in New York where he took chemistry classes and premedical studies from 1997-1999. He completed his internal medicine internship at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC, in 2009 and his internal medicine residency at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, NJ, in 2011.
As a hospitalist, Dr. Amo-Mensah focuses on the care of patients in the hospital. Trained in internal medicine and experienced in delivering care in hospital settings, he works with all other specialists involved with the patient to ensure continuity of quality care. Dr. Amo-Mensah also collaborates with primary care physicians to ensure quality care upon the patient's discharge from the hospital and beyond.
Dr. Amo-Mensah is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and he is a member of the American College of Physicians and the National Medical Association.
