Chesapeake, VA (September 2013) – Nolawit Tesfaye, MD, has joined Sentara Endocrinology Specialists in Chesapeake and Hampton.
Dr. Tesfaye earned her medical degree at the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis, MN, in 2005. She received her Bachelor of Science degree, with a major in biochemistry and molecular biology, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry at Bethel College in Saint Paul, MN, in 2000. Dr. Tesfaye completed her internal medicine residency at Hennepin County Medical Center, Minneapolis, MN, in 2008, and went on to complete fellowship training in endocrinology at the University of Minnesota in 2011.
Before joining Sentara Endocrinology Specialists, Dr. Tesfaye was the medical director of the diabetes and endocrinology clinic at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN, and an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Minnesota. She is committed to finding the right balance of treatments and procedures for her patients, and partners with them to develop a maintenance plan designed specifically to address their long-term health needs.
Dr. Tesfaye is board-certified in internal medicine, endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism. She is a member of several professional organizations including the Endocrine Society and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteer work.
