Honors Unique Challenges That Come With Cancer Diagnosis

– If you are looking for a way for you or a loved one to exercise with a cancer diagnosis, consider "Yoga for Cancer" offered by the Sentara Cancer Network
Yoga for Cancer is focused on a gentle approach to body awareness and practice. In this support-based class, we honor your unique challenges with a cancer diagnosis through postures, breath-work, relaxation and connection to others.
All who have been touched by cancer, including caregivers and family members, benefit from the nurturing wisdom of yoga.
With an emphasis on compassionate self-awareness, this class will help build strength, vitality, & empowerment. We will also promote deep, healing relaxation. The therapeutic effects of this practice calm the mind and nourish the body.
Classes will be held on the 2nd & 4th Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. - 6:45 p.m. Classes begin Tuesday, April 9, 2013.

Patients/caregivers, please park in the parking garage and take the elevators adjacent to the Gift Shop to the 3rd floor of the Main Office Building (MOB). When you exit the elevator on the 3rd Floor, the conference room will be right next to the elevators on the left side of the hallway.
All levels of experience are welcome. Caregivers and family members also welcome.

What Else Should I Know Before the Class?
Please speak to your doctor prior to beginning a yoga regimen. When attending the class, please bring your mat; additional yoga mats and props are available.
Who Will Instruct?
"Yoga for Cancer" instructor, Stephanee Howell, is a 200-hour registered yoga teacher certified by the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health & the National Yoga Alliance with additional certified training in Y4C’s (Yoga for Cancer) specialized teaching methodology and certification in restorative yoga.
