Virginia Beach, VA (July 2013) – Zuheir Kassabo, MD, has joined Sentara Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Specialists in Virginia Beach.
Dr. Kassabo earned his medical degree at the University of Aleppo in Aleppo, Syria, in 2000. He completed his internal medicine residency at Providence Hospital and Medical Centers in Southfield, MI, in 2006, serving as chief resident from 2005-2006. To further his medical training, Dr. Kassabo completed a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC.
As a pulmonary and critical care specialist, Dr. Kassabo’s primary focus is on the treatment and management of patients with complicated chest and lung disorders including asthma, COPD, cystic fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension and interstitial lung disease.
Previously, Dr. Kassabo served in several hospitals, caring for the inpatient population admitted through the emergency department. With a special interest in the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer, he partners with his patients to provide the best possible care and is experienced in procedures including airway management, thoracic, abdominal and vascular ultrasound and transvenous pacemaker insertion.
Dr. Kassabo is board-certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine and critical care medicine. He is a member of the American Thoracic Society, the American College of Physicians, the American College of Chest Physicians and the Society of Hospital Medicine.
