Woodbridge, Virginia – January 8, 2014 – Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center has selected Optimal Radiology Partners, a national radiology practice and leading provider of on-site physician coverage and teleradiology support, to provide comprehensive radiology services locally.
Under the partnership, Optimal will deliver on-site physician coverage and management support to 183-bed Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center as well as Sentara Lake Ridge, a state-of-the-art outpatient campus with a 24-hour free-standing emergency department (ED) and the surrounding Sentara Imaging Centers. The facilities will also have 24/7 access to highly specialized radiologists through Optimal’s teleradiology network.
“As a high performing organization, Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center recognizes the impact a strong radiology department can have on the quality of its outcomes, the satisfaction of its patients and referring physicians, and the overall efficiency of its operations,” said Chad Calendine, M.D., chief medical officer of Optimal Radiology Partners. “We are pleased to partner with Sentara to provide radiology services that support their ongoing quality and performance improvement initiatives.”
With more than 100 radiologists who interpret more than 2 million exams annually, Optimal provides radiology staffing and management services to a growing number of national and regional health systems. In addition to on-site physician coverage, management and business development support, the company offers 24/7 access to one of the nation’s largest networks of subspecialized radiologists and a robust IT platform that helps increase the speed with which both attending physicians and patients receive results.
“Optimal Radiology Partners will help us raise our game,” says Steve Porter, President of Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center. “The hospital, the Lake Ridge ED, and our imaging centers generate digital images around the clock,” he continues. “Having 24-hour access to highly skilled radiologists on a digital platform will ensure timely readings and the most efficient care we can provide our patients.”
