Chaplain Marsha Duncan’s background includes service as a corporate secretary, accounting, sales and teaching. Chaplain Duncan earned her associates of science degree from Paul D. Camp Community College, Franklin, Va.; bachelor of science in human services and psychology from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Va.; and a master of arts in clinical counseling from the School of Psychology and Counseling from Regent University, Virginia Beach, Va.
Currently, Chaplain Duncan is a divinity student at the John Leland Center for Theological Studies in Falls Church, Va. Chaplain Duncan completed four units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) in residency at Maryview Medical Center, Portsmouth, Va., earning healthcare chaplaincy credentials.
Chaplain Duncan is an ordained minister in the Southern Baptist Church, fully endorsed for healthcare chaplaincy. Chaplain Duncan also serves as a board member for BirthRight of Norfolk, Va., teaching and training lay counselors. Community service also includes membership in the Nansemond-Suffolk Pilot Club, raising awareness and educating the public about brain injuries, especially in children.
Chaplain Duncan served as a hospital chaplain at Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth, Va., and DePaul Medical Center in Norfolk, Va., prior to becoming a hospice chaplain with
Sentara Home Care Services' Hospice Program. Currently, Chaplain Duncan serves as the bereavement chaplain and coordinator, providing bereavement support to patients and families in the cities of Southampton Roads.
