Chaplain Harper felt a call to ministry while still an employee of the Federal Government. In 2001 she received the Bachelor of Biblical Studies Degree (cum Laude) from Queen City Bible College, in Charlotte NC. After 37 years of Federal Service, she retired from her position as Postmaster, Portsmouth, VA. She served on the staff of a local church as Missions Director before completing her residency in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) at Sentara Norfolk General in 2008. In 2009 she graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University (Richmond, VA) with a Master of Divinity Degree. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry Degree in Pastoral Skills at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, Charlotte, NC campus.
Lydia was ordained to the Gospel Ministry in 2001 by Great Commission Global Ministries. With more than thirty missions to Africa completed, she is still deeply involved in providing training to pastors and church leaders in the rural areas of East Africa. She is active in her church, where in addition to serving on the ministerial team, she is missionary to East Africa and the Hospital Chaplain. Her ministry goal is to introduce the ministry of Pastoral Care and Counseling and Chaplaincy in East Africa.
