Clinical Chaplain - Department Manager -
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital 
Elaine joined the Sentara norfolk General chaplaincy staff as the manager in October of 2010. She has been a hospital chaplain for thirty plus years and in management for 20 plus years. She is an ordained Baptist Clergy, endorsed by the Alliance of Baptists and is Board Certified with the Association of Professional Chaplains. Chaplain Lehr has been integrally involved in hospital ethics committees, IRB, developing policies regarding advance directives, end-of-life care as well as implementing HIPAA and Patient Rights initiatives.
She attended Furman University and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Her basic unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) was with Central State Hospital, Louisville, KY with emotionally disturbed children. Chaplain Lehr also completed eight advanced units in Birmingham, AL with Baptist Medical Centers. Throughout her career as chaplain and chaplain manager, her passion and focus remained the same: relationships - with patients, families and staff.
