We are pleased to announce the launch of the Sentara eCare Health Network® . This clinical system uses innovative technology to link patient medical information between Sentara hospitals, physician practices and other healthcare sites over a protected network, enabling the secure sharing of patient information. Physician practices will participate by establishing an electronic medical record (EMR) system, converting your current paper medical chart to a secure, electronic medical record.
As a patient, you will benefit in many ways, including increased patient safety, an enhanced physician-patient relationship and better physician-to-physician communication regarding your healthcare. Sentara eCare Health Network® will also enable physicians to order procedures and prescriptions, read other caregivers' notes, and make referrals to specialists -- all through this protected network. We look forward to bringing the future of healthcare to you.
The Sentara eCare Health Network® is live at several hospitals: Sentara Leigh, Sentara Bayside, Sentara Virginia Beach General and Sentara Norfolk General. The network is scheduled to launch at Sentara CarePlex Hospital and Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center in late 2009 -- and at Sentara Obici Hospital in 2010.
