The Sentara Cardiovascular Research Institute was established by Sentara Healthcare and its cardiac physicians to advance the understanding and treatment of cardiovascular disease, the nation’s number one killer.
At Sentara Cardiovascular Research Institute, we employ a talented and uniquely qualified staff of physicians and registered nurse research coordinators who have extensive experience in collaborating with government agencies and biomedical companies that sponsor clinical research trials. The staff works with our physician investigators to conduct research studies in all areas of cardiovascular care.
Many of the cardiovascular trials we participate in are nationally and internationally recognized. They have been designed to identify new, improved treatment methods and protocols, while at the same time eliminating therapies and approaches to clinical care that are not as effective or may have been shown to be harmful.
Our experience gives us the ability to conceive, design, test and apply new treatments, techniques and devices to patient care. Ultimately the work of the Sentara Cardiovascular Research Institute enables Sentara physicians and clinicians to improve clinical care delivery, patient outcomes and the overall health of our community.
