A: Using the latest technologies in web and telecommunications, consumers and physicians are able to engage in real time, interactive consultations over the phone or online video. Who are the providers?
Providers in the MDLIVE network in Virginia will be credentialed through Sentara and Optima and include physicians board-certified in Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics, as well as Licensed Therapists. Sentara physicians will also expand this virtual network over time as consumer interest in this convenient healthcare option continues to grow.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: MDLIVE offers a few payment options. A single visit is $45, less than the cost of a typical visit to the urgent care. Membership plans for individuals or families are also available if you’d like to have this service “on-call” more than just for a single visit. Some insurances cover virtual visits or allow the payment to reimbursed out of a flexible spending account, so you may want to check your plan details. Some employers also offer additional assistance. For example Sentara employees have a coupon code for a discount on a single visit, and those employees that are Optima Health members have further coverage.
