CT Services (Imaging)

Know the Facts

A computed tomography (CT) scan is a special type of X-ray that can produce detailed pictures of bones and organs inside your body. A CT scan also is called a computerized axial tomography (CAT) scan.

While the technology that captures these images is very important in assuring you the most accurate result, the skill of the radiologist reading your images is even more so. That’s why you want to become familiar with the training, experience, and capabilities of your imaging center before your schedule your test.

Remember, you have a choice of health care resources and providers. Here are some questions to ask that will help you make the best decision.

Ask yourself these essential questions:

Board certification is an important indicator of quality. Is your radiologist certified by the American Board of Radiology? Does he or she have a subspecialization?

Exactly how fast can your physician receive your test results? Can they be transferred online the same day?

State-of-the-art technology is essential for your optimal result. Does your radiologist have access to the latest, most advanced tools?

Talk to the staff at the imaging center before you schedule an appointment. Is the facility accredited by the American College of Radiology? Why is this important?
