RN Internship Opportunities

RN Internships

The following programs are designed to help recently graduated RNs or experienced nurses without critical care, emergency or cardiac/vascular nursing background, make an easier transition into their new roles. These opportunities vary by facility. Please contact a recruiter to find out more information about these internships.

Operating Room Internship – This program lasts 6 months and includes hospital orientation, eight weeks of classroom/clinical instruction followed by 12 weeks of specialty rotations. Observational time is also spent in SPD as well as pre-op patient education. Programs will be twice per year--July and January.

Critical Care Nursing Internship – The Critical Care Nursing Internship program lasts 12-14 weeks and includes two weeks of general hospital orientation, one week of EKG interpretation, and an 8-week comprehensive critical care course. Interns, when not in class, will work on the units of hire with an assigned preceptor.

Emergency Nursing Internship – This program lasts 12-14 weeks and includes two weeks of general hospital orientation, one week of EKG interpretation, and 10 weeks of classroom and clinical time in the Emergency Department. This is followed by an 8-12 week competency-based preceptored experience in the Emergency Department.

Cardiac/Vascular Nursing Internship Program – This program lasts 14 weeks and includes two weeks of general hospital orientation. Nurse interns also receive classroom education on EKG interpretation and a wide variety of clinical topics relevant to cardiac/vascular nursing. This is followed by a preceptored orientation on a cardiac or vascular stepdown unit, as well as observational time in additional clinical settings.

Post Anesthesia Care Unit Internship Program – This program is available for RNs with at least one year of med/surg experience wanting to get into PACU! The program, which lasts 20-24 weeks, includes hospital orientation, EKG central concepts, and a comprehensive critical care course followed by a month of preceptor orientation in the PACU. Observational and clinical experience is also spent in the Operating room, Critical care units, and the Outpatient surgical area.
