Scholarship Dollars Available To Local Nursing Students

Have you been accepted into a registered nursing program in the Hampton Roads area and wondering how you are going to pay for school?

Sentara Healthcare may have the answer for you!
Sentara has scholarships available to assist with the cost of your schooling, up to $10,000 with work commitment, post graduation.

Sentara’s Local Scholarship Program is for current nursing students who have successfully completed the prerequisites and have been accepted in to the following schools RN program:

Sentara School of Nursing

Hampton University

Thomas Nelson Community College

Tidewater Community College

Norfolk State University

Old Dominion University

Paul D. Camp Community College

Application deadline is June 1 and October 1. Funds will be for the semester following the date the awards are given.

Only qualified applicants who submit ALL required documents will be considered.

Please complete the following items in order to be considered by the deadline:

Application − Thoroughly complete an online application and click the blue “Submit form” button at the bottom of the application. Mailed or faxed applications will not be accepted.

Resume – Please attach a resume outlining your work and/or educational experience to the application form.

Essay – Please answer the following essay question: "As Healthcare continues to change, please tell us how you visualize the role of an acute care Registered Nurse in the future?" The essay must be no more than 500 words. Please attach essay to the application form.

References – Two required - Please use the reference form attached to the application. Clinical instructors or current employers should complete the reference forms. Please have the person completing the references submit the form directly to the committee addressed below. (If you have no clinical experience, please provide two confidential non-clinical letters of reference).

Official College Transcripts – Please submit transcripts from all colleges/universities attended - minimum cumulative and current GPA of 2.5 required.

Acceptance Letter - If newly admitted to the nursing program you must include a copy of your acceptance letter.
