Frequently Asked Questions
How do I search for positions? Once you have entered the link "start your search" you will see three choices. You can search by keyword, category, and location. Select how you would like to search and review the current positions posted.
How do I submit my resume for a position? Applications or uploaded resumes are the accepted method in order to be considered for positions at Sentara Healthcare.
I recently submitted my information for a position. What is the next step? The recruiter will receive the application and review.
If I apply for administrative or service positions, will I need to test? Yes. Please call 757-228-7400 and select option #8 to schedule testing.
If I apply for one position, but qualify for several, will I be considered for all of them? You will not be considered for positions that you do not apply for. Therefore, please apply for all positions that you are interested in. You can apply for up to five positions within a six-month period.
How can I tell if my application has been submitted? When you have completed the application, you will receive a verification that states your application has been received. You may also call 757-228-7400 and select option #8.
Can you tell me if a job has been filled? Yes, please call 757-228-7400 and select option #8. Or if you know who your direct contact is at one of the Employment Center locations, please contact that person directly.
If I have applied for a specific position at one location, can I be considered for another position at another facility? No. You will need to apply for each position listed separately. Please note that some positions are posted for several locations. If you are applying for a position that lists several locations, you will be considered for all locations.
Can I modify my profile at any time? Yes. You can select the "back" button and select the link "view/edit a previously submitted application."
If I was not hired for a specific position, will you consider me for other opportunities? Yes. However, you will need to apply for each individual position that you would like to be considered for.
How will I know that I am being considered for a position that I have applied for? A recruiter or manager will contact you.
My password has failed or I have forgotten it. What should I do? Click on "forgot password" and answer the secret question entered during registration. You will receive an email prompting you to select a new password. I have forgotten my login ID. What should I do? When you have forgotten your login ID you need to create new login ID. You will need to resubmit your resume or re-create your profile.
While viewing the job listings, I saw a position that would be perfect for one of my friends. Can I refer my friend? Yes, you can refer your friend. While you are in the job posting there is a link above titled "send to friend". Click on the link and email the position.
I can not find a position that I want to apply for. What should I do? You can create a search agent with your desired position and you will be notified when a position meeting your requirements is posted.
I do not want to be considered for opportunities at this time. How can my information be removed from the database? Please call 757-228-7400 and select option #8 Or if you know who your direct contact is at one of the Employment Center locations, please contact that person directly. We will withdraw your application upon request.
Can you provide me with information on your benefits program? You can access general information at the Benefits and Employment Compensation Philosophy areas of our Web site. More detailed information can be obtained through your direct recruiter at the Employment Center.
Can you provide me with information on the Hampton Roads region? You can access general information about Hampton Roads. More detailed information can be obtained through your direct recruiter at the Employment Center.
How long does my application stay on file? Six months from the date of application.
Do you hire new graduates? Yes, we hire new graduates. Facility requirements vary and new graduates are hired in many areas of Sentara Healthcare.
I am not a US Citizen, do not have a working VISA, and need sponsorship. Will you be able to consider me for employment? Unfortunately, at this time, we cannot consider non-US citizens who do not have a working VISA.
