G.I. Endoscopy
What is GI Endoscopy? GI is short for Gastrointestinal. The GI Endoscopy lab is used for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases that effect the digestive tract. (Esophagus, stomach, duodenum, intestines, and colon).
Service Offered: Board Certified Gastroenterologists utilize state-of-the-art computers, scopes and cameras to examine the digestive tract. These procedures are used to diagnose and treat diseases like: Gastritis, Ulcers, Benign and Malignant tumors, Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis.
Is this a Painful or Uncomfortable Procedure? Sedation is provided prior to the procedure so there is no pain and typically no memory of the actual procedure. Most of the procedures are done on an outpatient basis so that you can return home shortly after the endoscopy is completed. Due to the medication received, you will need to have someone drive you home. You will be instructed not to drive or operate machinery for 24 hours.
