Galactography
Evaluation of the patient with nipple discharge is a common procedure at the Dorothy G. Hoefer Comprehensive Breast Center. The nipple discharge is examined clinically, at which time it is determined to be suspicious or benign. Galactography is a procedure designed to evaluate suspicious nipple discharge. Contrast material is injected into the duct producing the suspicious discharge, and immediate digital imaging is performed. Any abnormality identified at galactography may be biopsied or localized for surgical excision.
