Services and Treatments Offered:

Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE)
Musculoskeletal examinations identify an injured employee’s performance levels with objective, verifiable criteria.

Hand usage, body movements, posture and weight handling dynamics are evaluated.

Industry -acclaimed Joule Work Injury Management software provides data to evaluate situations from pre-placement screening to return-to-work testing

Return-to-Work Program of Work Conditioning
Individualized programs incorporate aerobic conditioning, endurance, strengthening, and job simulation tasks to build tolerance for a return to work.

Depending on employee capabilities, this program may be combined with modified return-to-work activities.

Functional Job Analysis Through On-Site Evaluation
Therapeutic analysts observe an employee performing tasks at the work-site, checking body mechanics, posture, task strength, and other physical conditions.

Therapists recommend corrective or preventive measures to minimize further risk of injury.

Functional Job Description and Pre-Work Screening
Therapists assist employers in creating job descriptions in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Detailed descriptions include job objectives, functions, equipment, site access, measurements, and work dynamics.

Pre-work screenings determine a candidate’s ability to perform a job safely, leading to hiring decisions that are legal, fair, and nondiscriminatory.

Prevention Services
Sentara therapists conduct work-site group sessions to educate employees in techniques that prevent work-related injuries through correct body movement, posture, and weight handling.

Educational print and audiovisual materials motivate employees to become partners in safe workplace practices.

Reality-Based Work Conditioning
As part of an employee’s rehabilitation program, therapists work with employers, supervisors, and case managers to assess the specific physical requirements of actual work activities.

Therapists can arrange on-site visits to the work area, if needed.

Employees can, if needed, continue conditioning therapy at a Sentara facility after they return to work.
