Audiology Services: The Audiology Department at Sentara CarePlex Hospital offers a full range of diagnostic studies and rehabilitation related to hearing. Our specialist is a certified audiologist with a doctorate degree and more than twenty years of experience. We care for patients of all ages, from newborns to older adults. Services include:

Assessment of Middle Ear Function

Auditory Brainstorm Evoked Response (ABR)- evaluates the auditory pathway

Comprehensive Hearing Evaluations

Hearing Aid Program- The Hearing Aid Program provides digital technology available in all price ranges. Patients are followed carefully to assure maximum benefit. All hearing aids are sold with a thirty-day trial period. Custom made swim plugs and hearing protection devices are also available.

Newborn Hearing Screening Program- The program encorporates a follow-up evaluation and treatment for infants identified with hearing loss.

Otoacoustic Emissions Testing- assesses cochlear function in infants or those exposed to excess noise or ototoxic medications

Pediatric Audiological Evaluations- uses play oriented activities to assess hearing

Video Nystagmography (VNG)- evaluates dizziness, vertigo or balance dysfunction

Visual Evoked Potentials- measures function of visual tracts
