Lymphedema

Lymphedema is a condition in which excess fluid and proteins accumulate in the tissues.  The lymphatic system carries and absorbs fluid, proteins and bacteria which cannot be taken by the venous system.  If the lymphatic system becomes deficient, fluid accumulates in the tissues causing arms to swell.

Our physical therapists have special training, experience and certification from The Academy of Lymphatic Studies.  In cooperation with referring physicians, therapists use a medically proven approach called Combined or Complex Decongestive Therapy (CDT).  This treatment is designed to promote the flow of lymph fluid and reduce swelling.
